Between Horses and Humans virtual fundraiser is off to the races

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. – Between Horses and Humans (BHH), a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering children through the healing power of horses, invites the public to join forces in a unique, animated virtual fundraiser, the Horsing Around Fun-Raiser, designed to support the organization’s horses that a difference in the lives of children in our community.

“Our horses at Between Horses and Humans are more than just animals – they are healers, friends, and partners to the children in our program,” Seanna Jackson, BHH program manager, said. “By participating in our Horsing Around Fun-Raiser, you can help ensure that our horses receive the best care possible.”

Each of the five horses at Between Horses and Humans plays a critical role in helping children build confidence, develop life skills, and experience emotional healing, Jackson said. The organization is asking the community to join in the care and nurturing of the horses.

“It costs approximately $6,000 annually to maintain the health, wellness, and safety of each horse, and the Horse Fun-Raiser is an easy and engaging way for the public to get involved,” she said.

Jackson said the Horsing Around Fun-Raiser aims to introduce the horses to their community. An open house at the BHH barn is scheduled for October. In the meantime, the horses can be visited at the Horsing Around Fun-Raiser page on the BHH website, www.betweenhorsesandhumans.org/fundraising-horsing-around-fun-raiser. The fundraiser runs through the end of the year.

“The Fun-Raiser is simple and fun,” she said. “Just visit the website, read the horses’

bios, pick your favorite horse from our team—Lisette, Rascal, Tru, Afke, and Mari—and make a donation. All donations, big or small, are welcome.”

Every dollar donated helps your chosen horse move forward on the fun-raiser map, but all donations go directly toward the care of the horses and the no-cost services BHH provides to children, she said.

BHH updates the race results twice a week. Any donors making donations over $300 earn a special Between Horses and Humans T-shirt or hat, and a $500 donor earns a BHH sweatshirt.
